Special Sessions 2 (SS2):
Title: Reliability and Safety management of Power Devices and Power Electronics- based Systems
Special session theme:
The aim of the proposed special session is to bring together power electronics researchers, academia and practicing engineers and to offer a performant exchange channel for sharing innovative ideas and increasing interactions about the new research and development in the Power Electronics Reliability aera.
Power converters are more and more crucial for high-performant energy conditioning in nowadays power systems. Increasing efforts are made to enhance the reliability of these Power Electronics-based systems especially considering variable operation conditions and the multitude of the required components (power devices, electronic gate-drivers, passive devices, digital or hybrid control systems, sensors, integration and packaging).
The special session is intended to cover safety management solutions for power device fault handling, reliability assessment investigations and simulation tools dedicated to analyze and enhance power electronics-based systems reliability. It also addresses experimental test considerations and approaches to investigate power converter and device diagnosis, failure mode characterization and damage process of modern semiconductor technologies and passive components. Furthermore, advanced control algorithms integrating reliability prediction models lead to interesting optimization multiple objective function optimization challenges when important parameters -as power system efficiency and global cost- are considered. The authors can submit their research articles in the fields mentioned above or related to innovative applications dealing with reliability and safety management applied to power electronics systems.
