Special Sessions 7 (SS7):

Title: Control strategies and energy management of Fuel Cell and Hybrid Vehicles

Organized by MEGEVH, French Network on HEVs

  • Samir Jemei (primary contact person), Univ. Bourgogne Franche-Comté, FEMTO-ST Institute, FCLAB, CNRS, Belfort, France, samir.jemei@univ-fcomte.fr
  • Mohsen Kandidayeni, University of Sherbrooke (e-TESC lab) and University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières (IRH lab), Quebec, Canada, mohsen.kandidayeni@usherbrooke.ca

Special session theme:

One of the key issues in the development of Fuel Cell and Hybrid Vehicles is the control design in order to maximize the efficiency, reliability, power and/or lifetime of the system. Several techniques have been proposed and are currently being developed, from the physical model-based control methods to the pure artificial intelligence approaches. They each present their advantages and drawbacks and can be properly used in several cases.

Moreover, the global energy management (power sharing between the energy sources) of a Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) lead to various energetic performance and implies consequences on the device ageing.

The aim of this special session is to offer an international and up-to-date exchange forum for FCV and HEV experts.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Fuel Cell Systems & Fuel Cell Vehicles
  • Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV)
  • Model-based control and energy management,
  • Power sharing among energy storage systems,
  • Fault tolerant control,
  • Ageing, degradation, diagnostic, and prognostic tools
  • Multi-fuel cell systems.
